Facial angioedema in young elderly: Rare complication of rare drug

چکیده
Angioedema is an intense often disfiguring but temporary swelling of a localized area which usually involves superficially lying structures like skin, mucosa along with subcutaneous tissues. Areas are affected by angioedema have wide range starting from the face, lips, tongue, pharynx, supraglottic and rarely, subglottic area. It might also effect gastrointestinal mucous membranes, genitalia, hands feet. There maybe variety causes for development including various drug intake, insect bites or stings certain types food products particularly nuts, milk eggs. Levamisole known to anthelminthic immunomodulatory properties common contaminant in cocaine due its mood stimulatory action. Here we report case 60-year-old female who presented following ingestion as levamisole activity.

Benign parotid neoplasm and inflammatory processes of the parotid resulting in facial paralysis are extremely rare. We report a 72-year-old Malay female with poorly-controlled diabetes mellitus who presented with a painful right parotid swelling associated with right facial nerve palsy. The paralysis (Grade VI, House and Brackmann classification) remained after six months.
